About the Owner
Owner, Anita Volkenant, has had a lifelong passion for plants, starting her first garden at the age of three. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and Public Gardening, she has worked 20 years in the industry. Anita’s previous work experience was gained working as maintenance manager and assistant designer for Phillips Gardens in Minneapolis, and gardener at Noerenberg Gardens in Wayzata through Three Rivers Park District.
Her strong enthusiasm and love for the outdoors assisted her in reaching her life-long goal of owning and operating her own gardening business. She decided to name her company after the five-generation family farm, Pleasant View.
After 11 years in business, Pleasant View Gardens has greatly increased its capacity to create and maintain fabulous spaces throughout the west metro area. The importance of their mission remains the same; to create beautiful spaces filled with unique plant material, allowing you to enjoy your ‘Pleasant View’.
Our staff has a combined experience of 50 years plus in the industry. We are well rounded in our knowledge of gardening, landscaping, and hardscapes. We are certified through the Minnesota Landscape Association (MNLA), are members of the Minnesota Horticultural Society, and the Perennial Plant Association. We work in conjunction with several watershed districts, and Lakeshore Associations to create, restore and preserve natural waterways.
Our Green Initiatives
At Pleasant View Gardens we provide organic practices and offer sustainable gardening techniques. We use a variety of organic products that ensure safety while maintaining the health of your gardens.
These products control the following:
- Japanese Beetles
- Spider Mites
A Strong Minnesotan Heritage
At Pleasant View Gardens we are strongly rooted in our family history. Pleasant View Gardens is a family owned business that originated in 2006, but our story truly begins in 1864 with the establishment of the family farm just west of Minneapolis, MN. Pleasant View Farms is now in its 153rd year, and its operation is carried on by the fifth generation owners and continues to prosper and grow. Our family’s desire to be environmental stewards has not changed throughout the generations, and our desire to create beautiful and naturally enjoyable spaces continues to grow!
